Marie-Huguette Cormier - Biography

Executive Vice-President, Human Resources

Marie-Huguette Cormier is the Executive Vice-President of Human Resources.

In this role, she oversees the development of HR practices and strategies that help the Desjardins caisse network and Desjardins Group's business sectors and support functions carry out their business objectives.

She previously served as Executive Vice-President for Marketing, Communications and Cooperation. Marie-Huguette has been part of the Desjardins team for nearly 30 years and has many feathers in her cap, having expanded her passion for communication to marketing and business development. She's known for her inspiring, people-focused leadership style, for creating engaging environments, and for channeling efforts to tackle even the toughest challenges.

She's a top-level fencer, having represented Canada at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, and 4 years later at the Games in Seoul. She was named female athlete of 1988 at Université Laval, where she got her MBA the following year.

Marie-Huguette has been engaged in amateur sport for nearly 30 years. She's also committed to the fields of education, health, business and promoting female leadership. She currently serves as Chair of the Board of Port de Québec and she sits on the board of the Canadian Olympic Committee. In November 2009, she was ranked among Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women by Women's Executive Network. And from 2011 to 2012, Marie-Huguette served as chair of the board of the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec. In October 2012, she won the Prix Femmes d'affaires du Québec (the Quebec businesswomen's prize) in the category for managers and professionals in private businesses.
